How does it work in coaching?
In general, the coaching process begins with a personal interview (face to face, by phone or videoconference) with the aim of evaluating the client's objectives, describing the form that the coaching relationship can take and checking if it there is a possible affinity between the coach and the potential client.
It is recommended that a potential client do this preliminary exercise with at least two or three coaches before choosing the coach who seems to be the best fit for them.
Some suggested questions to ask the coaches during your exploratory interviews.
Tell me about your professional experiences, your background, your certifications, your training?
Tell me about a coaching experience with a client who had goals similar to mine?
How do you describe your coaching approach?
What is the average duration of a coaching mandate?
How are your coaching sessions going?
How long does a coaching session last and how often does it take place?
How much does a coaching mandate cost?
Coaching sessions can then be conducted in person, by video conference, or over the phone. Their duration is agreed in advance and the frequency of meetings is at a regular pace to support learning. Between each coaching session, the client commits to performing specific actions that will help them achieve personal or business goals.
The coach can provide additional resources such as relevant articles, exercises, assessments or models to support the client's thinking and actions. The duration of the coaching relationship varies depending on the needs and preferences of each person.
The content of a coaching program can be influenced by various factors, tools and concepts, depending on the training of the coach, the objectives of the client, or the objectives of the paying client when it is the organization that pays for the coaching services.
