Decathlon offers, when buying its bikes in stores or on the internet, insurance that covers the bike against damage (breakage guarantee) or theft for a period of two years. This insurance is taken out jointly with the purchase of a new bicycle but can also be taken out for a second-hand bicycle in certain cases.

Decathlon offers insurance focused on the essentials (breakage and theft) and does not insure the cyclist's civil liability, assistance or provident insurance (death, disability). Prices are competitive, especially for bikes over €2,000, compared to specific bike insurance.

Bicycles purchased new can benefit from "breakage and theft" guarantees, while bicycles purchased second-hand from Decathlon are only covered by the "breakage" guarantee.

New bike theft insurance

Theft insurance is included in the "breakage and theft" formula of Decathlon bicycle insurance. It must be taken out within 6 days of purchasing the bike new. The theft of the bicycle is insured for two years in the "breakage and theft 2 years" formula in the following cases:

    Burglary of main residence. The bike must be attached by the frame to a fixed point using an approved anti-theft system (B'TWIN brand, type U or chain rated 7/10 or more, purchased on the day of subscription).
    Theft in the outbuildings detached from the house, garage, provided that they are locked.
    Theft by assault of the insured, anywhere in the world.
    Theft of the bicycle attached to a bicycle carrier of a vehicle (anti-theft device locked by a key).
    The theft guarantee will not be covered if the theft of the bicycle occurs on the public highway or in the common areas of a building whose access is not secured by a locking system between 11 p.m. and 7 a.m.
    The theft must occur during use in a strictly private setting.

In the event of an insured theft, a voucher for the value of the bike (and lock) will be given to you, after deduction of an excess of 15% of the price including tax of the new bike. No obsolescence is applied.

Breakage guarantee

In the formula "breakage" of the new bicycle, it must be subscribed within 5 days after the new purchase of the bicycle. Several interesting guarantees are present:

    With material damage (breakage) insurance, your bike is protected against accidental breakage due to a fall or impact within the limit of its new purchase value.
    Repairs (parts and labour) must be carried out in one of the 260 workshops located in France
    No obsolescence rate or deductible is applied
    If the bike cannot be repaired or if the cost of the repairs is higher than the price of the new bike (excluding commercial discounts), a purchase voucher up to the limit of its purchase value will be given to you.
    The warranty applies worldwide.

Breakage warranty, used bike

This warranty only concerns BTWIN bicycles from Decathlon. A technical diagnosis of the bike, which determines its value, is carried out by a Decathlon technician before subscription. The bike must be in good condition. The theft of a second-hand Decathlon bike is excluded from the guarantees.
Breakage guarantee at 1 euro

The "breakage" warranties apply to second-hand Decathlon bikes. Only Decathlon Rockrider mountain bikes are concerned and the purchase of the insurance must be done only in store.
Limits and constraints

    Sportswear and cycling equipment are excluded from damage and theft guarantees.
    Only new children's, folding, road, hybrid and electric bikes of the Decathlon, B'TWIN, Rockrider, Triban, Van Rysel, Elops or Riverside brands purchased from Decathlon are covered by the breakage and theft warranty.
    Only second-hand B'Twin bikes purchased from Decathlon are covered by the "used bike breakage" guarantee.
    The loss of the bicycle is not covered.
