Thermal insulation
Insulate the walls
In the context of garage insulation, the walls represent the largest area. It is therefore normal to start with them in order to reduce energy loss as quickly as possible. There are two types of garage wall insulation.

The first, the insulation of the walls from the inside is the most requested, whether for new buildings or houses to renovate. This method can be done in two ways:

With a metal frame: the insulation is installed on a galvanized steel metal structure and rails. Then, the plasterboards will be securely screwed to the framework and then consolidated with joint strips. The insulation itself is done either with plasterboard combined with an insulation such as glass wool, or with an insulation inserted between the rails of the framework. The latter will then be retained by conventional plaster plates.
With insulation glued directly to the walls: this method requires the use of insulation that can be attached directly to the wall. A plasterboard will then be applied to the insulation. Most professionals generally prefer glass wool or sheep's wool.
As for the insulation of the walls from the outside, it is most often carried out when renovation work on the facade is in sight. This is because the garage insulation from the outside requires a lot more work.

Insulate the doors
The main door must be insulated with great care. Indeed, it is the most sensitive part of the garage because it is constantly in contact with the outside temperatures.

Whether it is hinged, folding, sectional, roll-up or overhead doors, we recommend that you install adhesive foam sheets that are simple to install and quite effective. Purchase a door insulation kit and you're good to go.

The service door or communicating door with the accommodation acts as a direct link between the garage and the house. It is therefore just as important to isolate it.
If this is not done or is done poorly, it is easier for the cold to enter the habitat and accelerate the loss of energy. We recommend if your budget is modest, a door sausage. The latter will allow you to effectively limit drafts at the bottom of the door. Little more, consider installing a thermal curtain designed with a thick fabric on the inside of your house. This will have the advantage of slowing down the penetration of the cold a little more.

Insulate the ground
There are two ways to insulate your garage floor. From above or from below (through the crawl space or cellar ceiling). The latter possibility is the most recommended, but it is not always feasible.

Above you will have to carry out work to remove the old coating. When the going gets tough, you can sacrifice space and install the insulation directly on the floor and then lay the siding on top.

Insulate the ceiling / roof
Roof insulation can be done from the inside (ceiling) or from the outside (roof). Of course, the choice of one or the other technique depends on the appearance of the roof (flat or inclined).

From the inside, you can do all of your garage ceiling insulation work without spending a lot of money. The best way to do this is to use insulation boards. However, you can also install insulation rolls between the rafters only if they are visible.

Insulating the roof from the outside is usually only done if the inside method is not possible. This method is relatively effective, but is much more expensive for the simple reason that it involves the renovation of the roof covering.

In order to distribute the heat, it is important to take care of your wall (the one adjoining the house) and your attic. Heat loss can come from all over the place, so think about it to avoid paying a high price for your heating bill.

Sound insulation
Although the thermal insulation measures taken significantly slow down the infiltration of exterior noise, it is useful to soundproof your home. This is still the place where you will practice DIY, learning a musical instrument, installing your laundry room € ¦

So many noisy activities that could disturb the peace of the rest of the house. It is therefore important to protect your habitat from these noises that are very likely to escape.

The best way to soundproof your garage is to install sound-absorbing tiles or panels that hang securely on the walls. These materials are composed of an iso
