Tired of poor city roads?
La Belle Province has a lot to offer in terms of landscapes and the paths that crisscross its regions and countryside are often of majestic beauty. Are you looking for the perfect place to escape with a car ride? We've found 10 asphalt circuits that can brighten the hearts of motorists (even the most grumpy city dwellers!). Everybody aboard!
Highway 155 between Shawinigan and La Tuque (along the Saint-Maurice)
This artery crosses the shores of the Saint-Maurice River from Shawinigan to La Tuque, in Mauricie. Wedged between the stream and large cliffs, each more impressive than the next, Route 155 is a must-see. In summer, you can see many sailboats on the river!
Route 104 in the Eastern Townships
Over a dozen vineyards dot this road, which stretches from Saint-Jean-sur-Richelieu to Magog. Take the opportunity to picnic at one of these wineries (and don't forget to name a designated driver!).
The 138 from Sainte-Anne to La Malbaie
Through valleys and mountains, the 138 can take you from a famous pilgrimage site (Sainte-Anne-de-Beaupré Basilica) to the Charlevoix casino in La Malbaie! You can even continue to Tadoussac and, with a little luck, see whales (watch the local pronunciation of the word).
The 362 of Baie-Saint-Paul and La Malbaie
Do you want to contemplate the river on your way to the Casino? Take the 362 after the Massif and enjoy the breathtaking views of the St. Lawrence.
The 132 in Gaspésie
Until today, you have only been able to contemplate the Percé Rock on a postcard? Route 132 from Kamouraska to Gaspé will take you there!
The 381 from Baie-Saint-Paul to La Baie
Take the 381 and take advantage of this superb mountainous drive to get from the city of La Baie to Saguenay, crossing the jovial Lac Ha! Ha! Its name does not mean giggles, but an “unexpected obstacle on a path”.
The 327 between Lachute and Mont-Tremblant
This winding road is known for its exhilarating curves; pure pleasure in the car!
The 148 between Grenville and Gatineau
This route along the Ottawa River passes through several small villages and picturesque towns such as the municipality of Montebello. There are also countless camping sites there.
Route 15 between Saint-Sauveur and Mont-Tremblant
Even if taking it from Montreal is nothing short of chaotic, this popular (and populous) highway that crosses the Laurentians offers an extraordinary panorama of the mountains, summer and winter.
The 344 between Deux-Montagnes and Oka
On the shores of Lac des Deux Montagnes, this scenic route will lead you to the town of Oka. Do you like cheese? So much the better. Plus, continue on the water by taking the ferry to Hudson, a pretty little town known for its antique market open every Saturday from May to October!
