A guide to the best places to stay, eat and have fun in Dubai
Wondering where are the best places for activities with family or friends, to enjoy the best lunches or to visit trendy art galleries? We've created, just for you, a guide to Dubai's most up-and-coming neighborhoods that will please all travelers.
Downtown Dubai | Skyscrapers, shopping, and incredible monuments
As you stroll through the center of the city, it is hard to miss the main downtown attractions Dubai can boast about: The Dubai Mall (the world's largest shopping mall and the shopping and entertainment site on most visited), the Burj Khalifa (the tallest building in the world) and the JW Marriot Marquis (the tallest hotel in the world). Leaving aside these historical records, visitors will find plenty of activities for family and friends, such as the Dubai Fountains, the Dubai Aquarium and Underwater Zoo, the Dubai Ice Rink and the Souk.
Dubai Neighborhoods
Media City | Trendy restaurants and live music
This neighborhood, whose name is not so creative, is the place where the main publishing groups of the city - think magazines, newspapers and TV channels - but the Media City and its neighborhood, the Internet City, also host restaurants frequented by creative personalities whether during or after work hours. Head to the Mazaj Restaurant for lunch around an excellent meze, with famous dishes such as grilled haloumi, baba ganoush and hot hummus served with pine nuts, or take a walk around the lake and go to Urban Bistro or Circle Café - juxtaposed restaurants offering fresh, balanced meals for lunch. The Media City Amphitheater - right next door - is one of the best outdoor venues in Dubai, and is home to everything from markets to music festivals to rock concerts. As a bonus: the Media One Hotel, with its spectacular views on the 42nd floor is just across the street; this is the place to go for a drink.
Dubai Neighborhoods
Al Quoz | Art and culture trends - images required
From the street, Al Quoz seems to be like all the other industrial suburbs of medium-sized cities, with streets full of warehouses without any particularities. However, art lovers on Alserkal Avenue will discover the emerging cultural district of Dubai. The Alserkal Avenue has 20 permanent art spaces, such as the Salsali Private Museum, the first gallery in the region exhibiting contemporary art from the Middle East; the Carbon 12 Dubai, which brings together the works of international artists; but also many events of art and culture not to be missed. The cravings for creativity can be found at one of Al Quoz's exciting coffee shops, such as Lime Tree Cafe and the popular Tom & Serg.
Dubai Neighborhoods
Jumeirah Beach | Family fun with sea views
A long stretch of shoreline parallel to Sheikh Zayed Road, Jumeirah Beach is home to many of the city's attractions, such as the iconic Burj Al Arab Hotel, the Madinat Jumeirah Hotel and Entertainment Complex, as well as its souk, and the Wild Wadi Water Park Culminating at Jumeirah Beach Residences (better known by the acronym JBR for locals), the neighborhood includes The Beach, one of Dubai's newest shopping centers - designed for pedestrians (as a family or with friends). Visitors will find it so easy to spend the day - and even the evening - at The Beach, with hundreds of restaurants, retail and movie theaters. Just a few steps away, you can go to the beach with a picnic basket and blanket, or take your children to the imaginative play area dedicated to them or take advantage of the on-site fitness equipment. .
