DEFINITION

Basketball or basketball is a collective ball sport that is played by hand. The goal is to score more points than the opposing team by scoring baskets, that is to say by passing the ball through a ring placed several meters from the ground.
- SHORT STORY -

Basketball was invented in 1891 by James Naismith, a Canadian physical education teacher at Springfield College in the state of Massachusetts, United States. He sought to keep his students busy between the football and baseball seasons, during the winter, when outdoor sport was difficult. Naismith also wanted to find them an activity where physical contact is restricted, to avoid the risk of injury.

One day, he took up the idea of an old Mayan ball game and placed two fishing boxes on the gymnasium ramps. The goal of his students was to get a ball into these wooden crates to score a goal. The boxes being high, that's why this game required as much address as brute force. Naismith quickly sets 13 rules [2] to make this game playable.

This sport was baptized basketball, which literally means "balloon basket". The first game ever took place on December 21, 1891 and ended with a score of 1 to 0.

The main violations: dribbling, dribbling with two hands, ballooning, dribbling in the air, ball exits (the ball comes out when it touches the outside of the line or in the hands of a player who has a outside the line, the lines are off the court), return to the zone (when a team is in the attacking zone, the "front zone" the ball can no longer return to the defensive sector, "zone back ").
The faults are more serious; they are counted and can bring the player on the bench.
The main faults are:
Personal foul: foul on a shooter at 2 pts = 2 free throws; on 3-point shooter = 3 free throws; faults on a dribbler, receiver, passer are counted and from 8, the team is sanctioned by a "1 + 1" (if the first free throw is successful, they can try a 2nd).
Intentional or willful foul: 2 free throws and a ball in the middle of the court.
Technical foul: language gap, 2 free throws if the player is on the field; if the player is on the bench, there is also the ball in the center of the field.

RULE OF THE MARKET:
Whenever the player controls the ball he can use two ground supports. When we take possession of the ball on the ground we are not entitled to these two ground supports.
After selecting the pivot foot, during a pass or shot, the pivot foot may be lifted, but can not return to the ground until the ball has left the player's hands; in a dribbling start, the pivot foot can not be lifted until the ball has left the player's hands.
If a player, who holds the ball on the ground (sitting or lying down), slips, or rolls, or has more contact with his feet than is allowed, or tries to get up while holding the ball: it is a violation.

A dribble begins when a player, having taken control of the ball, throws it, hits it or rolls it on the ground and retouches it before it touches another player.
The dribbling is finished, as soon as the player simultaneously touches the ball with both hands, or he lets the ball rest on one or both hands.
A player can not dribble a second time after finishing a first dribble, unless he has lost control of the ball.
