Wet forest
A humid forest is a forest characterized by abundant rainfall, with rainfall between 1750 and 2000 mm per year.
Temperate wet forest

Location of Temperate Wet Forests
Main article: Temperate wet forest.
Wet temperate forest is a type of forest. Consisting of conifers or hardwoods, it is found in temperate latitudes, in areas where precipitation is abundant.
Most of these forests are found in humid oceanic climates:
• Northwestern North America, from California to southeastern Alaska;
• Northwest Europe: British Isles, Brittany, Norway;
• Southern Chile;
• Southeast Australia (Tasmania, Victoria), New South Wales;
• West Coast of South Island of New Zealand.
Tropical Rainforest
The tropical rainforest is located in tropical or tropical areas of the intertropical zone.
It occupies a little less than one-tenth of the total area of all forests, ie 12.3 million km², but it harbors the most specific biodiversity.

The temperate moist forest, also called temperate rain forest, is a type of temperate evergreen forest. Consisting of conifers or hardwoods, it is found in temperate latitudes, in areas where precipitation is abundant.
Most of these forests are found in humid oceanic climates:
• Northwestern North America, from California to southeastern Alaska
• Southern Chile
• Southeast Australia (Tasmania / Victoria / New South Wales)
• West Coast of South Island of New Zealand
• South-West of South Africa in the vicinity of Knysna
• Southern China including Yunnan and Sichuan
• South and West of Japan and the Korean Peninsula
• Central Mountains of Taiwan
• Western Europe: British Isles, Brittany, Norway, Galicia
• Portugal and Spain with different islands of the North Atlantic: Azores, Madeira, Canary Islands
• Southern and southeastern Caspian Sea (South-eastern and northeastern Azerbaijan and northern Iran)
• Eastern Black Sea (Northeast Turkey and western Georgia)
Temperate temperate forests are distinguished from other temperate forests by a few factors related to coastal meteorology:
• precipitation: abundant (2,000 to 3,000 mm / yr minimum, depending on latitude), mainly from moisture saturated marine winds;
• proximity to the ocean: this moderates the seasonal variations in temperature, with milder winters and less hot summers than continental climate zones; on the other hand, oceanic mists periodically cover most of these forests, making them cooler and wetter in the summer;
• coastal mountains: these forests develop when mountain ranges are near the coast, which increases the rainfall on the slopes facing the sea.
These forests may be predominantly coniferous (with under-covered broadleaf), evergreen broad-leaved vegetation, or mixed with deciduous species.
Temperate softwood forests of conifers harbor the highest biomass density of all terrestrial ecosystems. They contain in particular numerous giant trees, including sequoia sempervirens, coastal pine (Pseudotsuga menziesii), spruce (Picea sitchensis) spruce, giant cedar (Thuja plicata), cypress trees of Patagonia (Fitzroya cupressoides), and Kauri pins (Agathis australis). These forests are found only in some coastal areas of western North America, southwestern South America, and southern New Zealand.
