Abdelaziz ben Abderrahmane Al Saoud, Ibn Saoud, born on 15 January 1876 or 24 November 18801 in Riyadh and died on November 9, 1953 in Taïf), is the founder of the third Saudi state. From January 8, 1926 to his death, he was the second king of the Hedjaz and Nejd, and the first king of modern Saudi Arabia.
Often called Ibn Saoud (or Ibn Saud, to respect the French pronunciation), especially in Western historiography, "Abdelaziz ben Abderrahmane ben Faisal ben Turki ben Abdallah ben Mohammed bin Saoud" is the great-great-great-grandson Of another Ibn Saud, who, associated with Ibn Abdelwahhab, had created the first Saudi state in 1744.
At the death of Fayçal ben Turki Al Saud (December 11, 18653), the power of the Al Saoud dynasty on the second waver and falls into the hands of the rival Al Rachid family, native of the city of Hail and supported by the Ottomans, which takes Riyadh in 1884.

Abderrahmane, the younger son of Faisal, imposed himself as head of the Saud family and attacked Riyadh, which he resumed before being defeated and just managed to flee in the desert with his family in 18914. Abderrahmane first found Refuge with the tribe of the al-Murrah in the borders of the red al-Khali desert where his son, young Abdelaziz, experiences the rugged Bedouin life and the virtues of hospitality. He then left the Al Murrah for Bahrain, where Sheikh Issa bin Ali Al-Khalifa became friends with Abdelaziz4 and then for Qatar and Kuwait where sheikh Mubarak granted them hospitality with the Ottoman authorities and where the family Eventually settled in 1892.
Sick, he died of a heart attack in 1953.

The order of King Abdelaziz, the main order of Saudi merit, was created in his memory in 1971 by King Faisal.
