Beirut Book Fair

The Beirut Book Fair is a literary and cultural event that takes place every autumn in the Lebanese capital. It lasts ten days during which it gathers readers and authors francophones around various manifestations: signatures, meetings, conferences, ... It is the third francophone show after those of Paris and Montreal.

Overview

The Francophone book fair in Beirut was created in 1992, after the war, on the initiative of the French Embassy. It has been held annually since that date (with the exception of 2006 and 2007). It is visited in the morning by the schools and in the afternoon by the general public. Each edition attracts between 50,000 and 100,000 visitors. Invited by the French Institute of Lebanon (formerly French Cultural Mission to Lebanon) mainly, but also by other institutions, some fifty French-speaking authors come from abroad - novelists, essayists, comics authors, ... - and join many Lebanese authors at the Salon. The program is rich and varied: book signings, meetings with authors, debates, lectures, public readings, concerts, children's events, etc. It is aimed both at book professionals and at a wide audience And miscellaneous.
