The purpose of this course is to prepare nursing student to care for people affected by disasters or under emergency situations. This course will provide students with: definition of disaster nursing; recognition of the community resources, utilizing disaster planning models; and recognizing the role that nurses could play in disaster situations. In addition, The course will include basics of emergency, first aid and emergency nursing care for specific medical emergencies. Critical thinking and problem solving is emphasized.

In the final semester of the fourth year, the students will work on daily full shift practice in one of the health care institutions.

The first section introduces the BSc. students to the principles of palliative nursing care for clients facing problems associated with serious life threatening illness and their families.
