When could we have a vacation in space?
Since the 20th century, several scientists have taken space travel. The goal was for each state to be the first to unravel its mysteries.
But for about ten years now, there have been a number of people who have gone there for tourism. Obviously, this trip is extremely expensive. Space tourism is born little by little. However, could we go on vacation to space?
Ambitions and dreams of space agencies
Among the agencies that are embarking on space tourism, 4 really stand out from the crowd. And each plans to make their project a reality very soon. At the top of the list is the American agency SpaceX headed by Elon Musk.
Based on what has been released, SpaceX is reportedly considering sending tourists to space by 2023. Its first client is already known. His name: Yuzaku Maezawa.
The second agency is the one run by Amazon boss Jeff Bezos. This is Blue Origin. Here, the date of the first trip is a little closer, planned for the summer of 2021.
Third on the list is Virgin Galactic, headed by Richard Branson. Compared to the others, this is the agency whose project is considerably ahead. In theory, the first trips would be scheduled for summer 2020. She has recorded a significant number of reservations with more than 7,000 people waiting.
Last on the list is Russian agency CosmoCourse. Coming from the UMMC group led by Iskander Makhmudov, she plans to send tourists to space in about 5 years.
Space tourism: accessible only to billionaires
With the very high cost of space travel tickets, it's safe to say that only wealthy people will be able to afford this pleasure.
In fact, the cost of the ticket is around $ 300,000 for a 15-minute trip with only 5 minutes of weightlessness. Such a sum is obviously not within the reach of all budgets.
And so for many years to come, only wealthy people will eventually be able to observe our planet from space.
One might wonder if with such a price it would be possible to one day travel in space as is the case with public transport. It’s not impossible, but not anytime soon. All the same, we will have to wait at least two decades before we hope for this.
