Our advice before going on a ski vacation

1. Take care of your diet

A varied and balanced diet is essential to stay in shape, especially in winter when our immune system is very stressed!

Eat seasonal fruits and vegetables, sources of vitamins and proteins to help my immune system fight against winter aggressions
And foods rich in calcium (dairy products, goji berries) to strengthen your bones and prevent fractures

2. Prepare your physical condition

Whether you practice alpine skiing, cross-country skiing or snowboarding, these demanding sports place great demands on the gluteal muscles, the thighs as well as all the joints (knees and ankles in particular).

15 minutes of daily exercise in the weeks before your trip will help you get in shape before you hit the slopes, especially if you don’t participate in a regular sporting activity.

3. Gear up before you go

Because products and equipment are often more expensive in the resort, we recommend that you plan your essentials before leaving:

Technical underwear (tshirt and tights) to keep you warm while wicking away perspiration
Waterproof fleeces and jumpsuit or pant / windbreaker set
Hats, gloves (waterproof and warm) and après-ski boots
Sunscreen index 50 or total sunscreen, essential for children and adults alike and lip balm with sun protection to prevent chapping
Sunglasses: provide glacier glasses for skiing at more than 2800m and UV protection indices always at least 3 or 4.
A whistle and a survival blanket take up little space in a backpack and can be of great help in an emergency.
Finally, if you practice off-piste skiing, an ABS bag or anti-avalanche "air-bag" is strongly recommended to limit the risk of burial in the event of an avalanche, as well as a avalanche transceiver (casualty detector). avalanches).

During your stay in the mountains

1. The choice of your material

You will easily find recent and very good quality equipment from a good number of rental companies in the resort.

Always choose a pair of skis in your size and ask for advice to adjust your equipment according to your practice
If you have your own equipment but a bad fall damages it, know that Voyageo Neige insurance can reimburse you for the rental costs of replacement equipment
Wear a helmet! Skiers of all levels are more and more numerous on the slopes and collisions are sometimes formidable!
Did you know ? If you break your personal equipment during a bad fall, you will be able to benefit from reimbursement of the rental costs of replacement equipment thanks to Voyageo Neige insurance.

2. Check the weather forecast!

Before starting your day:

Check the outside temperature and that announced at the top of the slopes, and cover yourself accordingly.
Remember to check the day's weather forecast often posted at the bottom of the slopes. The weather is sometimes very changeable in the mountains ...
Did you know ? If the bad conditions cause the ski lifts in the ski area to close at more than 50% and for more than 24 hours, Voyageo Neige insurance will guarantee you the reimbursement of the unused days of your ski pass!

3. Observe the traffic rules on the slopes

As on the road, there is a code of traffic and good conduct on the tracks.

The downstream skier therefore always has priority. The skier located upstream (the highest on the track) must adapt his trajectory according to the downstream skier (s) (lower than him on the track).
Any overtaking of a skier must be done at the widest point, whether on the right or on the left.
Watch out for crossings of tracks, the intersection of which is marked with yellow and black markers ... This is a place prone to collisions!
Did you know ? If a bad fall or a collision causes you a fracture, a sprain, or in the event of any other medical condition requiring you to stop skiing, Voyageo Neige insurance will reimburse you for the remaining days of your ski pass.

4. If you practice off-piste

Off-piste skiing involves risks, even for experienced skiers.

Preferably use a licensed guide.
Collect all the information you need to stay safe, including weather information for the day (avalanche risk, bad weather, etc.)
Do not ski outside the zones
