Arkansas Insurance AUTOMOBILE
The automobile insurance policy is comprised of several separate types of
coverages: COLLISION, COMPREHENSIVE, LIABILITY, PERSONAL
INJURY PROTECTION, UNINSURED MOTORIST, UNDERINSURED
MOTORIST and other coverages. You are required by law to purchase liability
protection only. All others are voluntary unless required by a lienholder.
LIABILITY
Under Legislation passed in 1987 and 1999, it is unlawful for any person to
operate a motor vehicle within this state unless the vehicle is insured with the minimum
amount of liability coverage: $25,000 for bodily injury or death of one person in any
one accident; $50,000 for bodily injury or death of two or more persons in any one
accident and $25,000 for damage to or destruction of the property of others.
Liability bodily injury (BI) protects you against a claim which may be made by
someone who has been injured in a automobile accident for which you are legally
liable. You will have coverage up to the limits stated in your policy.
Liability property damage (PD) protects you against a claim for damage to
another person's auto or other property, real or personal, in an accident for which you
are legally liable. You will have coverage up to the limits of your policy.
You may purchase higher limits of BI and/or PD liability if you feel the minimums
required by law are not enough to protect you. Your agent can assist you in
determining the appropriate amount
