A
robot is a mechatronic device that combines mechanics, electronics and
computing to automatically perform tasks that imitate or reproduce human
actions in a specific area. The design of these systems and the object of a
scientific discipline, branch of automation called robotics.
Composition
of a robot
A
robot is a complex assembly of mechanical parts, electromechanical parts or
electronic parts. The unit is controlled by a central unit: a simple sequence
of automation, computer software or artificial intelligence depending on the
degree of complexity of the tasks to be accomplished. When autonomous robots
are mobile, they also have an onboard energy source: generally an electric
storage battery or an electric generator coupled to a gasoline engine for the
most energy-consuming.
The

There
is a wide variety. For example :
Ultrasonic
or laser sensors (or telemeters). The latter are the basis of laser scanners
enabling the robot's central processing unit to become "aware" of its
3D environment.
The
cameras are the eyes of the robots. It takes at least two to allow vision in
three dimensions. The automatic processing of images to detect shapes, objects
and even faces, generally requires a hardware treatment because the embedded
microprocessors are not powerful enough to realize it.
The
coding wheels allow the robot moving on wheels, precise displacement
measurements by calculating the angles of rotation (proprioceptive
information).
Electronic
circuits
Microprocessors
or microcontrollers are essential elements of the robot control system. They
allow the execution of training sequences or software commanding the
realization of actions or functions of the robot. Very small electrical
components are often found in small robots because they can only carry limited
energy sources.
The
actuators
The
most usual actuators are:

rotary electric motors, which are frequently associated with gear-driven
gearboxes.

Pneumatic cylinders, more rarely hydraulic, powered by a pump and allowing
tonic actions.
An
actuator is the constituent of a mechanical system (example: arm, paw, drive
wheel ...) performing a motor action according to a degree of freedom. it

the applications of remote manipulation.
Adaptation
to its environment
A
certain ability to adapt to an unknown environment can be ensured in the
present semi-autonomous systems provided the unknown remains relatively

Autonomy

location. If this buffet is moved or removed, the robot is able to modify its
plan accordingly and to treat an area of the ground that it
did not take into account until then.
