تعبير عن مدينة كوريا بالانجليزي
South Korea, is an East
Asian country that covers the southern half of the Korean Peninsula. Its
capital is Seoul. The official language is Korean, whose writing is hangul or
hangeul and currency the won. The animal representing the country is the tiger.
To the north, its only
land border of 238 km with North Korea, is the demilitarized zone (DMZ). South
Korea is bordered, to the west by the Yellow Sea, by the Sea of Japan to the east and by the South Korean Strait.
Currently, South Korea is
ranked twelfth largest in the world in terms of gross domestic product in
purchasing power parity and fifteenth according to the traditional monetary
criterion. It is both the East Asian country with the highest HDI, the highest
suicide rate and the lowest fertility. It is also the country in the region
that emits most CO2 per person.
South Korea is officially
at war with North Korea since the Korean War. Each of the two states claims the
entire Korean Peninsula,
Economy
The largest of the Asian
dragons in terms of economic weight, South Korea has experienced a spectacular
phase of growth and integration into the modern world economy. In the 1960s,
GDP per capita was comparable to that of the poorest countries in Africa and
Asia. In 2007, its per capita GDP at purchasing power parity (PPP), at $ 26,523
In 2008, South Korea
became the world's 13th largest economy with a GDP of US $ 1,024 billion48. At
the level of trade, in 2007, it is the 11th and 13th world trade power
respectively in terms of export and import of goods. Excluding intra-EU trade,
South Korea becomes the sixth and seventh largest exporting and importing
country
This success in the late
1980s was achieved through a system of close links between government and
business, including a directed credit system, restrictions on imports,
financing of certain industries and a policy Of massive indebtedness. The
government has promoted the import of raw materials and technology at the
expense of consumer goods and has encouraged saving and investment to the
detriment of consumption. It is also explained by a very large amount of work
demanded of the workers. In 1980, a South Korean worker's work week was the
longest in the world, accounting for only 50% of a Mexican worker's wage costs.
Trade unions are then illegal.
The Korean population is
one of the most homogeneous in the world, ethnically and linguistically, with a
small minority as a small Chinese community. Koreans have lived in Manchuria
for many centuries, and now constitute a minority in China. Joseph Stalin sent
thousands of Koreans against their will to Central Asia (former Soviet Union)
from Vladivostok and Khabarovsk. The majority of the Korean population in Japan
has been there since the colonial period.
With a fertility rate of
1.23, among the lowest in the world, the population will decline sharply in the
21st century.
religions
Christianity (31.6% of
the population, 24% Protestant and 7.6% Catholics) and Buddhism (24.2% of
believers) are the two dominant religions of South Korea. It is also estimated
that 43.3% of South Koreans are without religion2.
Although only 3% of the
population declared Confucianism, society was strongly imbued with Confucian
values and beliefs. The rest of the Koreans practice
shamanism (traditional worship of the spirit) and Cheondogyo ("divine way"),
a traditional religion, still popular.
