The day of Friday has a great importance in Islam, for several reasons.

First of all, as reported in this hadith, the Prophet (salaLlahu alayi wa sallam) said: "Friday Day is of great importance, the best of the days of the week on earth: it is the day that was created Adam, the day he was brought into Paradise, the day he came out. It is also the day when the world will end. "(Narrated by Muslim)

Friday prayers (salat Joumou'a)
Because of its status, Friday is a day when good works must be multiplied. Thus, it is a day of prayer as attested by this verse:

"O you who believe! When one calls to the Salat of the day of Friday, come to the invocation of Allah and leave all trade. This is much better for you, if you knew! (Sura 62, verse 9)

It is therefore a day when prayers and invocations must be multiplied.

Friday prayer is an obligation for believing men. A hadeeth illustrates the strong recommendation to attend prayer. The Prophet (salaLlahu alayi wa sallam) said, "Let those who neglect the Friday prayer cease to do so, otherwise Allah will put the seal on their hearts and they will eventually be distracted from His thought. "(Narrated by Muslim)

It is advisable to follow certain recommendations during the Friday prayers (salat Joumou'a): perform the great, and the small ablutions, perfume, arrive early the mosque, listen to the sermon to the end, and do not talk. The sermon of the imam replaces two rak'at of dohr prayer.

However, Friday prayers at the mosque are not compulsory for women.

The believer must not neglect the Friday prayers, if he has no valid reason. He must leave all daily entertainment and task to go to prayer. A verse from the Sura Joumou'a illustrates this point: "When they perceive some trade or some entertainment, they disperse and leave you standing. Say: "What is with Allah is much better than entertainment and commerce, and Allah is the Best of the purveyors." (Sura 62, verse 11)

May Allah allow us to multiply pious works on this day.

May Allah make this day the best provision for His Satisfaction and for happiness in the lower world and in the Hereafter.
